Overview
Student Life at Tse'ii'ahi' Community School
Tse’ii’ahi Community School provides students with various learning opportunities and experiences that prepare them for middle school and beyond. Our well-rounded kindergarten through fourth-grade educational program includes activities that develop young minds, bodies and spirits. Our young Wranglers benefit from learning initiatives that foster Navajo education, competency and cultural awareness.
FACE Program
Many young Wranglers start the learning process before they reach the classroom. The Family and Child Education program provides infant, preschool and early childhood education services to boost academic success. Parents and guardians can also benefit from the FACE program’s parenting skills training, adult workshops and career readiness programs.
Spelling Bee
The Spelling Bee is a traditional academic exercise that allows students to display their spelling, language and vocabulary proficiency alongside their classmates. Students prepare and study for spelling bee competitions, which can lead to advancement to future school, community, regional and national competitions.
Art/Music
Tse’ii’ahi’ Community School supports our young artists and artisans with a curriculum that introduces artistic and cultural expression. Students become familiar with Native musical instruments and songs, traditional dance choreography, cultural arts and crafts, and many creative ways to engage with their heritage.
Athletics/Physical Education Programs
Athletics and PE programs ensure students develop their minds, bodies and spirits. Participation in sports competitions helps students build confidence, character and community. Our various athletic and recreational activities promote healthy living while developing leadership skills, sportsmanship and teamwork. Many students discover new talents and interests.
Navajo Language/Culture
Tse’ii’ahi’ Community School’s teachers, staff and community members educate students in the Navajo language and culture. Young Wranglers are preserving their Native language and heritage through events, performances and tutorials. Our curriculum incorporates Navajo language and culture programs with the assistance of Tribal leadership, educators and community elders. Participation in these programs develops students’ identity, cultural connection and community.
STEM
Students interested in solving problems, conducting experiments and building things enjoy participating in science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs. Early introduction to STEM subjects prepares students for a 21st-century life, education and career. Tse’ii’ahi’ Community School curriculum provides students valuable exposure and a solid foundation in STEM studies.
21st Century Program
The 21st Century Program creates Navajo community learning centers where students attend enrichment activities outside regular school hours. Students are introduced to various practical skills and knowledge bases that may not have been accessible. 21st Century Programs are an excellent supplement to regular academic programs, improving literacy, mathematics, social-emotional health and much more.
After-school Tutoring
The after-school tutoring program provides additional help to students in the diverse subjects taught during the school day. Students who require more one-on-one attention than is afforded by the classroom will benefit from after-school tutoring. The goal of the after-school tutoring program is to ensure every student has the aid needed to progress with their classmates.
